My mother’s helper. My friend and a very dear one to Emily. If you don’t have one, I suggest you find one. It took me a year. I didn’t have a picture of her so much as a feeling of what it would be like to have this person here helping play with Em while I cleaned the coop. Or simply rested. I just kept that feeling at the top of my heart.

Then I took just enough action. Mentioning this here and there. When I felt prompted. Even when it didn’t make sense. And in perfect timing, it was answered. She’s also one mean snack maker and photographer (full props to her, @native.fern for image). Easy Peasy Snack Bombs, inspired by This Rawsome Vegan Life.

Easy Peasy Snack Bombs

1/3 cup soaked cashews

1/3 cup soaked almonds or almond meal

2/3 cup rolled oatmeal

1/3 cup dates

Scant 1/3 cup golden raisins


Pinch of salt

Whirl in food processor until a grainy dough. Roll into balls. Store in fridge.

Not too sticky. Toddler approved. Especially my blooming vegetarian.
