We made playdough!
Last year it felt like there was so much I wanted to do I couldn’t. Joint pain and plain old exhaustion. That felt lame so I decided I would and could do everything that really mattered. Play dough is totally one of them. Hand strength is back but I’m still using this easy recipe because it’s so darn easy:
No Knead, No Cook 5 Minute Play Dough
Ingredients: (i actually triple this)
1 cup white flour (give or take)
1/3 cup salt
2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup boiling water
1 Tablespoon oil (I used olive oil, cheaper oils work perfectly and are…cheaper)
Coloring (I love Wilton gel color for light or vibrant colors. Kool Aid works, but I don’t recommend actually ingesting either of these)
Add in ideas:
3 drops lavender essential oil to calm or wild orange or peppermint to perk up the afternoon.
Glitter! Messy. yes. Worth it.
Bring 1 1/2 to 2 cups water to boil. Pour dry ingredients in the mixer. Save coloring for later. When water comes to a boil, pour 1 cup into mixer bowl and turn on medium low for about 5 minutes. Grab a ball and squish in your hands. Add a bit more flour, 2 Tablespoons at a time if needed. Mix in. Your done!
Too add color, remove all the dough and add a hunk of dough back in the bowl. Add about 1/2 teaspoon of gel color using a toothpick or 1/2 packet Kool Aid and mix up for 2 minutes or until blended. Start with lightest color to darkest.
Lasts 6 months in the fridge or about 3 months counter top.
