Papaya. The orange flesh with gorgeous black seeds.
Truth be told I do not enjoy this fruit plain. I’ve heard a squeeze of lime makes it divine!
They do, however, add a lovely flavor and creaminess to smoothies and are power packed with enzymes and vitamins. Proteolytic enzymes help break down undigested proteins.
The seeds contain even more then the fruit. Throw a teaspoon of those in your smoothie as well for a peppery spice. They are highly anti-parasitic , though skip the skin as it is high in latex.
Avoid the small Hawaiian papaya as many are GMO. Look for those from Mexico and South America. I chop mine and freeze, keeping the seeds separately in the freezer.
This is how I flash freeze for easy, creamy smoothies.
